St. Oswald's, New Bilton
1. What does the approved Deanery strategy mean for our PCC and therefore parish?
i. Centre of worship and L.O.L. Obviously the situation post Graham Hardwick dominates our thoughts and planning. So clearly also the advancing discussions with St Matthew's. This is clearly the best option for New Bilton and so for the church seeking to serve it.
ii. Inter-church and clergy relationships will be vital, but equally readers who often feel left out, and other key lay leaders.
iii. Vital to free clergy, readers and lay leaders to work outside their local church environment. It can only benefit them and their work at home too!
iv. Deanery vision will contain a variety of views on certain themes eg divorce/re-marriage.
v. Sharing of parish plans, hopes and needs etc each year will enable this to develop.
vi. Parish Share. Though many are facing real challenges, others are carrying huge burdens. Some need a kick in the stewardship!! St Oswald's is committed to do its very best to meet obligations. Parish share should NOT be seen any more as a voluntary contribution.
2. What part can we play in the Deanery?
Being a live partner in mission, our ecumenical commitment, practical skills of church members, making a scheme to bring two different churches together work!!
Reaching out to work with non church partners to serve the local community. getting grants, the special contribution of sacramental worship, devotional prayer etc. |
